Industry Case Studies

The following case studies are examples of some of Aerosafe’s major projects. They include working with organisations not only within the aviation industry, but other industries such as Defence, pharmaceutical, transport and logistics.

Air Traffic Control

Aerosafe has conducted risk culture analysis within one of the Force Element Groups of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), which manages the Air Traffic Control functions. Aerosafe developed a cultural survey, which was completed by over 85% of the organisation. The results were analysed and presented back to the senior manager of that Group to use as a basis for the development of their risk management program.

Agriculture

 Aerosafe was contracted to assist in the risk management planning and support for aerial operations of the plague locust control program coordinated the Department of Primary Industries (DPI). This assistance was requested in the context of reviewing and modifying the air support management framework to underpin the resumption of air operations following a suspension that was imposed following an aviation accident that involved DPI staff.

Defence

 Aerosafe has a long running association with companies within the Defence force, including:

• development of aviation risk management programs for the Royal Australian Air Force and Naval Aviation
• partnering with the Defence Safety Management Agency to develop the safety risk management program for the Department of Defence
• establishing the risk management framework and program within the Corporate Services and Infrastructure Group
• producing a risk management publication for the Department of Defence based on AS/NZS 4360:2004 for use across the portfolio

 General Aviation

 Aerosafe has progressively developed to be a leader in the fields of risk and safety

Management with clients and services in the general aviation industry including:

• partnering with Hawker Pacific to develop and implement risk management and a positive risk culture throughout their organisation
• providing safety and risk management support to Energex Helicopters and was responsible for conducting Crew Resource Management training for the company
• assisting with Newcastle Airport to develop an organisational risk management plan and implementation strategy
• working with Regional Express Airlines to develop and implement their formal safety management systems, which will bring together the two aviation organisations that joined to make the airline, and standardise practises across the organisation
• partnering with Virgin Blue to establish the company corporate risk management program

 Helicopter Emergency Medical Service

 Aerosafe has prepared a Standard in Integrated Safety and Risk Management on behalf of the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service Safety Consortium. The consortium comprises of a number of helicopter operators within the EMS industry who endeavour to improve safety and risk management outcomes through enhanced communication and implementation of improved management and operational practices.

 Regional Aviation Services

Aerosafe has worked with Regional Express Airlines to develop and implement their formal safety management systems, which will bring together the two aviation organisations that joined to make the airline, and standardise practises across the organisation.
